Behavioral Activation Group

Behavioral activation therapy (BAT) is the behavioral component of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Rather than emphasizing self-talk and core beliefs that comprise the cognitive aspect of CBT, behavioral activation focuses on affecting mood and thoughts through behavior. Research supports BAT for depression and anxiety, as well as wellness/self improvement goals and general mood improvement.

Tasks of BAT are:

  • monitor and analyze behavior, mood, and avoidance patterns
  • identify behavior aligned with values
  • learn behavioral strategies to overcome avoidance and procrastination
  • plan and schedule activities that improve mood and align with values and goals

BAT group will be offered Tuesday evenings January 9 to February 27 at 6:15pm cst/7:15pm est and is open to adults ages 24 and older in Louisiana and Florida. Group size is limited and group members are screened for rightness of fit.
